I photographed this rose over the weekend. I set the stem near natural daylight and let the sun coming in from the windows lift the colors inside the folds of the rose. I did a curves adjustment and played with the WB a bit to get it to a softer tonality.

Hi Jules. I like the nice tight comp on the rose and the spiral draws my eye right to the center. You handled the light very well - I love the subtle gradations in the whites as well as those in the yellow/orange/peach tones. Very well done!
Lovely approach to lighting a rose. Works extremely well, bringing out the peachy soft colors amidst the whites. I like how the flower fills the frame with its gentle beauty. The radiating curves are lovely and perfectly placed.
I love shots of clean roses taken from above so this one is right up my alley! Those lovely swirls looks fantastic and there's just the right blend of light and dark. I'm wondering how this would look with a sliver removed from the right....just enough to take the center of the rose a bit further from the center of the composition. Very nice, Jules!
