This is one of my two Red-Turquoise Discus pairs. They decided to spawn in my freshly cleaned 75gal living room tank, about 1 inch from the front glass and on driftwood instead of a pvc pipe or something! I grabbed my Nikon D200, with an 80-400VR lens and a hot shoe strobe and took a few shots. I was able to get at a slight angle to the glass, thus avoiding any strobe reflections but still getting little or no distortion.

They might be good parents, but they never get a chance to prove it in the community tank. The eggs usually last about 1 day! Dan

Very fine creatures. Years ago I kept these and managed to breed a few nice fish. Superb colours.

This is really a special image, in my opinion! We often see images of birds and mammals showing care and concern for their young, but I've never seen anything like this with fish. They sure appear to be showing a joint concern and care . Is this typical fish behavior? Love the lips on the far fish! Good job with the photo and thanks for sharing!
