Hello, this was shot this morning, it has been a while since I have seen the Canvasbacks this cooperative. Since we rarely see them flying kind of stuck with these drifting shots.

    7D, 700mm, 1/5.6, 1/1600, iso:400.

Thanks for clicking on the thumbnail and would appreciate any comments.

Those are beautiful colors and a great eye.
I would maybe run a bit more NR of the BG.

Nicely exposed and I like the bit of a look back pose. I would take a bit off bottom to lose at least one eye reflection. Good to see a nice close up.

    Gary:

Good looking drake, nice breeding colors! I do agree with Dave about some cropping. I would come up from the bottom and down from the top. The beautiful water would still show very well.

    Cheers

Is that all you got? I thought for sure you would comment on the double reflection in the eye.

Lovely water, look back pose, and colors, Gary, I like this portrait a lot. I'd like to see a smaller crop too.

    Gary"

The red eye was so strong, that the second reflection didn't bother me. In the darker eyes, I find it more bothersome.

I think it works either way.

Sorry my game was so weak today!

    Cheers

No problem... Just nice to be shooting again. May make it out tomorrow am.

Great image. I helped the USFWS personnel band ducks at the Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge east of Roswell, N.M a couple of weeks ago. They had two cans in the traps. Beautiful ducks.

Repost works very well forme, but needs and extra bit of sharpening around the eye (which is quite striking int his species!)

Great picture, nice deep shooting position in front of a perfect backdground.
