I was down in south-west of England on holiday last week in North Cornwall. While visiting Port Isaac, which is a typical Cornish fishing village set in a cove between cliff headlands, I noticed some of my favourite seabirds skirting along the cliff top. I popped back to the car for the camera and took a few flight photos. Fulmars are such superb flyers and masters of those updrafts coming up off the cliff face. This is my favourite of the set.
Taken with 1Dmk3 and 500mm lens at ISO320 and F5.6.
Beautiful flight pose, and sharp detail. Was this a vertical or a crop from horizontal? I would suggest lightening the shadows on the bird's chin and neck. Tubenoses are spectacular birds. Lovely capture.
Great pose, details and eye contact. I might give it a bit more space and agree with Linda regarding the shadows. Maybe less negative exposure compensation would have been good.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. This was a crop from a horizontal shot. I quite like the original shot as the bird is well placed in the frame but thought I would try this vertical crop for a change.
