Took a macro shot of an iris, and the shape kind of reminded me of an ocean wave. Copied and flipped it, then used smudge tool to extend BG and added some blur to edges. Converted to B&W, then clicked "colorize" in Photoshop / Hue & Saturation to get mono-color, and adjusted hue to blue tone. Used layers of Nik Color Effects, Viveza, Topaz Detail, and some PB oil.

Absolutely Beautiful, Brendan! Love the texture/flow/color/effects with just the right amount of blur. Masterful job joining the images. Very well done!

I LOVE it, Brendan! You really stepped outside the box here. You saw one shape and equated it with another and then brought out all the best in it. Awesome image!

    Brendan,

Greetings. Very cool image. Great color & form. I wonder what a landscape version would look like.

    Cheers,

Thanks, folks, much appreciated. Michael, thanks, I think I'll try a landscape version - makes a lot of sense in terms of conveying waves.
