    Rachel,

First of all this is a touching picture and the white feathers are very unique and makes the image very compelling. It is framed too tight IMO, the theory is you can cut but not clip and several edges are clipped. Some might say a deeper DoF would help focus the head and bill but I am alright with the selective focus on the eye, kind of a dreamy look and it is unique - anyway I like it. The whites are exposed alright I do see a few hot pixels but on-balance well done.

The opportunity IMO was to go tighter or wider and add more detail to the whites (mid tones or contrast). Additionally, more DoF to bring the bill into clear focus. Who did you travel with I hear the islands are amazing, do you have more to share from the trip.

Thanks Jeff. Maybe I should go with a slightly tighter crop like this. Btw I went with Quasar Expeditions.

    Thanks again,

    Hi Rachel

This is a very very nice image that with just a little more space and DOF would make it OOT in my books... I would love to see the feather on the beak in focus especially. Have you considered a tighter crop?
