This was taken on a rather dark and dull morning deep in the Mopane woodland, hence the need for high ISO.

Ken - nice pose and detail. I would reduce the brightness of the bg leaves a bit. I'm not sure about the color of the pup but it looks a little yellow to me.

P.S. Decided to do a quick repost along the lines of what I was thinking. Hope you don't mind.

    Hi Ken,

This is one of the few images I've seen that make a hyena look cute. Very nice. I like Rachel's repost, but I would reduce the intensity of the vegetation in the upper left corner and a little more on the veg and log to the lower right.

    Rachel,

I have had a lot of problems with the intensity of the greens images from my recent trip, it really was very green indeed. Hyena pups are born black and develop their spotted apperance after around 3 months, this one was clearly youn (still suckling when Mum allowed) so I am not really sure if the yellow should be there or not.

    Roger,

I have to agree that adult Hyenas are not at all cute, but the young are not to bad

I recently posted some Brown Hyena pups now they are cute!

I like what Rachel did on the BG and what I was going to suggest. I find the branch coming out of the ear a distraction.
