Well it's just an American Coot. They get in our pictures of other more impressive birds. But they need love too! You gotta love them feet.

From Merritt Island NWR on 3/3/12. Stiff wind blowing up the feathers. In this area at MINWR it is normally best to remain in the vehicle as the birds will stay closer to the berm road. HH through window on BLUBB.

Great image of a bird we all take photos of, but is never really interesting enough to post.
You have a very cool shot of one.
    Well done.

I love this capture, Robert. The foot puts this one in a league of its own, and I've always found the colors of their feet amazing as well. This capture showcases both. The flying feathers and stunning light are pluses too.

In the past few years, I have been wanting to photograph the coots running across the water, but it seems that everyone else on the boats are after raptors and I seem to get out voted.

I think that the trick with common subjects is to figure out what makes them special and show it off. You've done that perfectly here. Lots of interest in that huge foot, mud droplets splashing off it and the blown feather. A fun image, Robert.

Hi Robert, well exposed on a difficult character, sharp, and I like the angle and placement in the frame. You have captured a great view of the foot.

Superb IQ, great walking pose, and of course that foot!! These guys are a dime a dozen for you southerners but up here they attract many a photogrpaher when the odd one cooperates. When in Florida I always get excited by the sight of a tame coot!

Love it, not often you see shots with their feet showing.

Excellent shot!! Love the pose, especially the raised foot. Expsed very well and I really like the dark water.
    Well done.
