    Default Wood Duck Portrait

This Male Wood Duck image is from a city park where they are frequently around people. As I sat quietly on the ground with my camera it approached very close and I was able to get several images. The light was coming and going because of clouds passing quickly overhead but this one had good light and detail.

Joel - fantastic colors and detail. The drop of water at the end of the bill really adds to this. I do see a very slight halo along the top of the head.

    Joel,

I like it for several reasons. First you show the beauty of this species and for that I thank you. The color is fantastic the green on top of the head is stunning!!! Nice detail for HHing the 500 and the whites contain detail which is a sign of solid exposure. Another example of solid field techniques taking time to develop the subject, low profile and framing a nice portrait.

Nice one Joel, love the colors and excellent exposure. I might bring the peak whites down just a bit. This would add a bit of perceived saturation also. Love the pattern on the breast feathers, a really nice feature of this duck.
