I was able to spend a good couple of hours with this Burrowing Owl. He spent most of the time down closer to the hole but I was happy when he finally jumped up on the mound to provide a nice clear view of the feet and a clear background. Patience paid off - several other photographers had come and gone without getting this nice view. All C&C welcome and appreciated.

sweet pose and nice details, nice colors too. The deep eye sockets makes owls extremely difficult to photograph in anything other than low angle sun at dawn or dusk

It looks as though he is guarding the burrow while momma is down sitting. Can't wait for chick season. So glad you opted for patience. It paid off. Very nice details, BG and low angle here.

I really like the pose, bg and low shooting angle. Good for you to persist and be able to get all of the owl in the shot.

Dan, perfect shooting angle to get that gradient BG. loved the composition and the head-on upright pose. well done in the waiting game. hope you get it next time with the sun low or a cloudy day. I had the same challenge with BUOW here. other than the first morning hour, all shots have shadows in the eye. I like that you got the eye wide open.
