    Default Gannet on the diagonal

From a winter pelagic trip off the coast of Long Island. This was so much fun and so crazy, everything was out of my control. So it was a lesson in making things work. This is nearly full frame, a smidge off the bottom and right.

Love that face. Great wing spread and I do like the diagonal. i find myself wishing for the tips though.

Lovely detail and exposure Grace. I like the diagonal. Not sure about the degree of wing clipping - I think either a bit more or none would be better from my perspective.

Real nice shot. Great flight pose, love the wing span, real nice light, and excellent head angle. I think a tighter crop would be ideal. Either way... Great shot.
    Well done.

Amazingly tack sharp for an image taken from a rocking rolling boat!!I would like a tighter crop with less wing. I do miss the wingtips though. Light is really nice and your exposure was spot on. The dangly feet, fanned tail and direct eye contact are lovely.

Love how the image really pops from that dark sky, Grace, almost looks 3D. Great EXP, sharpness, IQ. I would love to see how it looks a bit more cropped in. Excellent job from a rocking boat indeed!!

I like the composition with the bird seeming to stretch to reach the ends. Very sharp, lots of detail and nice light angle to get some shadows. I wonder if a bit more detail is available in the brighter areas.
And it does look like fun.

Lovely details esp in that tail and gorgeous light. I miss the wingtips and would therefore consider a tighter crop.

Excellent exposure - the whites are just gorgeous. I love the pose with great looks at the feet and the fanned tail.
The diagonal works great here. I just love the 300 2.8 + 1.4x combo - sounds like a great kit for a rocking boat :)
