This image is from 2010...I took the camera outside one night with my new 400mm lens and pointed it towards a sliver of a moon. I used f 9 @ 4 seconds and, handholding the camera, I moved it around the entire time the exposure was ticking away. It took about a 100 tries to figure out how much to move the camera around and then there was still some post-processing where I had to even out where the slivers overlapped...but this was my favorite image of the group that night. When I do this next time, I'll use my 200mm lens to give me more space to move the camera around in. Despite this one being partially out of the frame, I love it anyway. The black and white conversion was a simple layer adjustment in CS5 - no need for the fancier presets of Silver Efex here - the moon did all the gradient work for me.

Wow! Love this, Jules! Wonderful and appealing curvaceous B&W abstract. Might only wish for a tiny bit more room left/right. This is one of those images that can do it all in B&W. Great example and OOTB thinking!

Amazing effect! Those curves and the changes of densities are wonderful. Very well thought out and executed.

Jules, this is really cool! It reminds me of a Henry Moore sculpture

Beautiful abstract, Jules. I agree it really needs more room in the frame, but the sweeping curves are very relaxing to look at. Well done!

Jules, It reminds me of a sculpture. I can't wait to see more. It is a little tight as you noted but the fluid look to this abstract is wonderful!

Jules this looks like an optical illusion, you'd see in a magazine. So many lines and shapes to it, very OOTB. I do think I can see the man on the moon, in there. Well done

Hi Julie, this is awesome. Love the 'sculpture' you created with the movement.

This is so cool, Jules! Reminds me of a modern art sculpture. The effect you got from moving the camera is awesome, very creative. Love the shape, lines, and light. Great title too!
