EOS-1D Mk III, 70-200mm f/2.8L IS @ 200mm, 1/2000, f/4, ISO 400
Manual mode using incident metering minus 1/3.
Manual fill flash with Better Beamer to light underside.
About 70% of Full Frame.
Photographed a couple days ago at St. Augustine Alligator Farm while there for Chas' Tech Series.
Realized after posting that this image would benefit from an outline frame.
Couldn't figure out how to replace/delete original so here's a repost with an outline.

Very cool shot. The high key works nicely here. I particularly like the translucent wing feathers. - The frame does help with the white background on the web.
Hi Mike, I like it and the frame too. Agree with ROT that the repost appears a tad softer in the eye; a possible cause is that the image degraded slightly when you saved it after framing it. I would have liked to see the original capture one or two thrids darker because of the lack of definition of the top of the head and the top of the neck...

HI Mike Agree with previous Do like the flight pose Particularly the leg position Does give the bird a relaxed look !!!! Love it !!! btw I do think the extra save got you !! First looks very sharp !!!
Lovely high key image, and the full wing spread pose is nice. The frame is just right. Second post softness mentioned.....the original looks great. I agree that the image could be just slightly darker. Nice capture!
Interesting comments about the relative sharpness of the two images.
The second was generated by opening the same PSD master file, adding the stroke around the edge, and then running the exact same action that was used to generate the original jpeg.
Can't think of any reason why they should be different .
