Default American Coot, very common, but difficult to photograph

The American Coot is very common in Mexico, of these species very common that we no longer take time to photograph, but is a great challenge to take a picture where the beakis not over exposed and not miss details of plumage, with respect to the composition, i am not sure.

exposure, eye contact and details are very good, I am not crazy about the OOF bird in the BG and the multiple reflections would tone done the specular highlights on the beak

You nailed the exposure, agree on the rest with Arash.

I've tried to photograph these guys and even the ones in the local park seem really skittish.

Exposure and details are spot on. Neat calling pose too. Comp-wise you need more room below and left IMO (although I see you added some at left as there is a post processing mark there).
