Hi Dan,
The perch with the lichen and BG are lovely. I find the head a little bit soft and wish for a touch more head turn.It takes a while to get used to TC's! I am always happy not to use mine if I don't have too,
Gail
Hi Dan, interesting perch, and I like it. Jon hit the mark by stating the focus point looks like it was on the wing. Having said that, you have still captured good sharp feather detail. The colour of the BG compliments the sparrow so well. Just wish he would have turned his head towards you.
I also agree with the head angle -- its not a good one.
However, I think Dan didn't sharpen the head enough -- here's a repost for review, with additional sharpening and a contrast mask, with just the head masked to expose these additional sharpening (OK, I also sharpened the far foot too).
what do you think about this repost for head sharpening? ( edit after I posted---> by the way -- the JPG before uploading looks a lot better than what this page's upload software seems to have done).

Thanks, Don and I agree with the HA being not ideal, but I did not think it was bad and I liked the rest.
I also agree with your comment about the sharpening, I try hard not to over sharpen these days and the compressed jpeg and non compressed
jpeg looked fine.
I had to look again after Gails comment and sure enough, the posted version on the site is much softer.
I am not sure why.
Dan I agree - this is exactly what I said when I went back and edited -- "( edit after I posted---> by the way -- the JPG before uploading looks a lot better than what this page's upload software seems to have done)." I saw that same problem. When posted, the jpg got softer.
I'm usually a stickler for HA, but lately I've started enjoying the "in their world" feel that HAs such as this one give.
Lovely perch, excellent bg and cute bird. I'd take a bit off the top.
