    This is from Fort DeSoto.
It's been hanging around there for many years now.
    Thanks for looking.

Nice sharpness, comp and perfect pose to show off that impressive bill.
I'd check if reducing highlights improves this fine image further...

excellent pose and very sharp with great details. I agree with Sid that it is a bit bright, should be a one touch fix. great photo the HA is great and I like the soft clean BG.

    Thanks Arash, thanks Sidharth.
I selecitively darkened the bird in Curves and then darkened the whole image in Level.

Hi Karl, I like the low perspective, together with the pose and sharp details. I feel your repost is still a touch too light, and have posted my version. Hope you dont mind. I took your image into Raw, moved the exposure slider to the left to reduce the overall exposure. I then ran a multiply blending mode at 20% to reduce it a touch more. Normally I work on a subject and BG separately, but for time, I have worked on the whole image.

    Thanks Stuart.
It's a good way to do it.
I use it sometimes, like open the fully processed file in Lightroom and modify it there.
It is especially great for warming or cooling the colours.
I like your version and thanks for your work.
However, I find that the blue wouln't have been that blue as the water was the water of the lagoon and not the sea.
As it is very shallow and has sandy bottom, it was rather pale. The bird looks great on your version, though.
To be honest the real colour is not always the right colour to our eyes and we have the feedom to change it, as long as the main object
(the bird here) remains realistic and it did.

You have a lovely capture here, Karl. Both of your posts appear too bright. Although I like the colors in Stuart's bird in his repost, I feel the water is too blue and looks unnatural. Great looking LBC. So glad you were able to get such a good pose and angle in such nice light. This really shows off his tremendous beak.

Karl, I agree with the blue on Stuart's repost. Your repost appeared to fix the bird but not the water. I have been there many times, the lagoon water often is darker. Depending on your shooting condition, it may have been reflected some blue off the sky.
I think by taking your original post, just drag the exposure slider would fix both the water and the bird.

WOW Karl! A great image. I agree with Troy that all that you need to do is reduce the exposure of the bird a bit and it will look great. Your repost and Stuart's look "overworked" and a bit unnatural,
    Gail

Wonderful image, Karl. Nice pose, detail, and setting. Agree on being a little bright and while I love the colors in Stuart's version I feel it deviated too much from the actual scene. I would also be tempted to add a little bit more room at the bottom for the virtual feet.
