Long-billed Curlew at first light. Taken today at Ft. Desoto Park, at the lagoon side. It was in the shade, light was blocked by the trees. Filled flash added. Hope you like it. Had fun shooting with Ramasubramanian Narasimhan.

Wonderful image, Troy. I like the low shooting angle and the transition of the colors from the foreground water to the background vegetation(?). Nice pose, sharp, and love the soft feel to the image.
Good job getting down low for this lovely portrait. Good use of flash. That smooth BG really compliments your bird. This capture really showcases its spectacular bill.
Beautifully taken and composed. Can you or someone tell me what the bulbous protuberance at the end of the bill is? I got one last year at Fort DeSoto (Couldn't get away from Skimmers in the BG) and noticed the same thing. Is it a tongue or some such sensory organ?
Troy, what a shot. this pose really emphasizes the length and the shape of the bill. you absolutely nailed the HA here. 1024-wide would have had even more impact. loved those gentle waves.
