it was a dark and rainy day.... actually a dark and rainy week. but lovely time at Santa Clara Ranch with Paul Denman this day. the week helped me become more comfortable at a little higher iso's on my camera.
yes, the birds came into seed and water provided by the ranch.
very foggy morning, so increased clarity and vibrance in LR, sunlight, tonal contrast and sharpener in cs5, background NR
i appreciate any suggestions on how to improve the photo, thanks for looking.

Beautiful details in the feathers. I agree with Alan on the midtones and would use Curves in PS. If it were mine, I would probably clone out the vertical part of the perch since it is only partly in the image and seems a bit intrusive.
hey Alan, thank you - I will definitely try the selective color change you suggested - I had forgotten!
thank you Nancy, for no particular reason, I'm trying not to clone things out right now - just an experiment (no intelligent thought behind it) --- I realize i undoubtably should remove the upright. and i'll try a comparison between curves and selective color. thank you both.
thank you Robert and Frank, I've had a tendancy to make things too contrasty so now i'm err-ing on the opposite side. thank you for taking the time to comment!
Excellent critiques so far. I find selective coloring much better than the curves adjustment. Respect your no cloning policy but if this was mine I would zap the vertical part of the perch. The perch is great with the wavy lines and texture,
