Default Shoot out with Grace and Marina! Long Tailed Duck

I have had this shot in my BPN folder and decided to show it. My talents are no where near Marina's and Grace's but if I don't play with the big girls I will never improve ( just like playing golf really!).

Lovely shot and I can see why you cropped as you did for the tail & red wake, but I think if you had some
room in front it would nice.

The water color compliments the ducks' colors perfectly. Very good exposure, very sharp. Interesting how the red shows only in the ducks' wake.

Sweet image of this species. Love the different water color coming of the trail.

Great eye contact, low angle and exposure. I'd remove the second catchlight.

Beautiful image of the duck. But I must be the only one who thinks the red water looks like the duck is bleeding, although his body language says he's perky. From the image I cannot see the real source of the red reflection.

I'm with Nancy on this one Gail. Lovely image but for me the red wake conflicts with the otherwise peaceful setting - presents too many unpleasant possible causes. I would remove the lower eye catch.

This is an excellent shot. However, I am not crazy about the red. Here is a repost for comparison.

Thanks Ofer. I appreciate you taking the time. I do have a frame without the red wake but I like the red as it makes people wonder about the red!
Nancy- the red is the reflection from a warehouse across the channel.

Hi Gail, super low angle with a sweet pose and HA. You have exposed the duck very well, sharp, and I like how we can see the droplets on his back. Im fine with the reds from the reflection, but would maybe take a touch off the top.

You have a nice low angle here with spot on EXP and a nice HA. I personally prefer Ofer's crop and removal of the red after comparing the two, although I understand your finding the red trail to be of interest. Push wake is nice.

Glad to see you join in the shootout! From the looks of your recent posts, however, I feel you are selling yourself a little short!
