I like it alot. He has an intense look, looks sharp, the environment is great as are the colors in this image.

I think this is really special. I love the light, the crop, the IQ, and of course the (apparently) hunting bird. No flash? You seem to have good soft light on the underside of the wings. Great job all around.

Very nice backlit photo. I like the blurred foreground grasses and very pleasing color on the whole image.

Glad you like it, at last I think my patience and determination is beginning to pay off. I have been visiting the area morning and afternoon since November and every time the birds came close enough the camera would not focus. On this particular instance I was just about to pack up and go, the owl appeared at 5.00pm, the light had dropped quite markedly and for one brief session the camera locked on the bird when it was reasonably large in the frame.. I'll bore you with a few more shots over the following days!

Congrats on a really cool image Jon! That eye contact is fantastic. It's not easy to lock focus in a situation like this, but you've done a great job here!

Hi Jon, love the light and warm colours in this. I like the placement and hoving posture of the owl, and good to see the inclusion of the grasses. I also like the backlighting through his right wing. I know how frustrated you have been with these guys, so congrats on your recent captures.

NOt much to add except the warmth of the pictures gives the viewer a feeling of being there.
And bore us some more, great bird and a very nice area. Your patience impresses me.

The intent look, the hunting pose and the setting make this a winner in my book. The back lighting adds a lot. I like the pano crop too. Nicely done.
