It has been quite awhile since I've had anything to post here. While traveling across Oklahoma last month we found a bison herd in one of the state parks. When I first started to photograph they were just standing around. Then suddenly they broke into a run and I was completely unprepared with my camera settings. At that moment I was really glad there was a perimeter fence separating me from these running bison.

    c & c most appreciated.

Nancy - I agree with your self-critique. It's nice that the head of the middle bison is sharp. These look a little a red to me but it may be from the dust. My reference is mostly the ones in Yellowstone which tend to be darker brown (unless, of course, they are red doggies/calves). There's a significant halo around the one on the left. It looks like it is from a s/h or other adjustment rather than sharpening.

I like the basic composition of the three, all with eye contact. Just too much blurring of the beasts and the ground to make me happy. Also seems to be some chromatic aberration (?) (red fringing) of the rocky ground which is distracting.

    Tom,

I like the middle one as he is sharp and the BG one adds a nice juxtaposition. The FG one is too blurred and OOF and draws my eye too much. If he was not there, I think this would work better.

Thank you all. With your comments in mind I think I would crop out the most OOF bison on the right and reduce the red saturation of the ground.
