    Default Winter American Robin.

This winter has been THE winter to observe this species in a winter setting up here. This guy perched atop a small knoll on the snow and was eyeing a watering hole located just below the frame. A stray twig cloned out at left. No flash used, but the big time light diffusion created by the snow!!

Canon 7D + 100-400L @375mm, aperture priority, evaluative metering, 1/320s., f/7.1, ISO 800, +3 EC, natural light, handheld, slight crop for composition. I'm toying the idea of cloning out the hole in the snow directly below the robin...

Lovely shot Daniel, the hole doesn't bother me, I like the knoll and eye contact and glad you cloned out the twig.

What a fresh, crisp look to this fellow. I feel the hole in the snow adds texture and character to the image. Wouldn't change a thing. We've had a lot of them around here as well, but not much snow this year.

I realy like these Robin on snow shots - I love the white out BG but with the form on the snow perch visable - no problem with the hole. like the colours and detail in the breast feathers.

This is extremely good. Perfectly exposed, perfectly sharp.

I really like this image. I wouldn't touch a thing. No nits from me at all!!The orange breast and white snow make for a killer color combo. I especially like the way you have placed the robin in RUc.

Beautiful bird and nice pose, excellent detail and exposure. I also like the loose composition. I'd leave the hole as is as it adds to the sense of dimension.

It is always fun to shoot them in winter. The pure clean white snow brings out the beauty of this bird in your composition, Daniel.

Absolutely beautiful Daniel... I think the hole is necessary to provide the detail required to give the snow a bit of form...

Wonderful shot. Love the pose, exposed perfectly, detail is superb and so is the comp. Hole does not bother me either.

A heartwarming image, to be sure! Simple and elegant. If I had taken this picture I would be kissing myself right now, etc. Huzzah!

Love it! Tack sharp, and the exposure it spot on. Wouldn't change a thing.
