Worked hard on spoonbill preening poses this season. Liked the feather in its beak here but do not feel this particular BG compliments the bird. Would appreciate your thoughts.

I think you nailed this Marina. Light, pose, comp, setting, details - everything spot on.

Super image, Marina. Great detail, colors, pose, light. I suppose one could think that the beautiful bg fights with the beautiful bird for attention, but for me the two work very nicely together.

Does the feather make me look fat - no it's just the frame, it's a bit tight!!
No seriously I think this is a lovely shot I love the light composition and the pose and the complimentary colours, and of course the wonderful detail, - lovely shot.

Hi Marina, I like this image. Excellent techs, pose, eye contact and shooting angle. I like the colours as presented. However, here is a repost with some manipulation of the colours to make it look more 'natural'. Played with 'colour balance' and selective saturation/de-saturation of colours - especially red and blue. Hope you don't mind.

Just gorgeous, Marina. Great light, detail, and pose. You added a perfect caption, too. While I like the colors, it kinda looks unnatural to me.

Marina, I do find the background in your post to be a bit heavy, competes with the bird imo. Also could be a bit looser in the frame. Ofer's repost is pleasing to my eye, but you were there and I don't know if that's what you saw. The pose is awesome.

Hi Marina, great preening pose, and your vertical comp works well here. Good DOF on the spoonie, well exposed and sharp, and I like what Ofer has done to the BG, but as Grace has stated, you were there. Still, a fine image, and well captured.

Marina, I really like the pose, the singled out feather, and the eye contact. Great comp and sharpness too. I do think the color/saturation in the OP looks a bit off, almost like old Velvia film. I think Ofer's work has improved it a lot in that respect. I'm of two minds about the striations in the water in the BG, at one moment thinking they are distracting to my eye, at another thinking they add interest.
That being said, I know I didn't get any spoonies this well while I was down there (in fact, only had them at shooting range one day I was with you) and I'd be more than happy to have this in my portfolio!

Beautiful preening pose, great eye contact, and super sharpness. Before I saw Ofer's repost, I was thinking that it needed some color balance work. His repost looks better IMO. But overall an excellent frame Marina!
