Snowy having a meal
I had the fantastic fortune to observe a Snowy Owl elevate its neck, sight its prey, take off after it and return with a meal. From the time it took the mouse in its mouth to when the tail disappeared down the throat was about 5 seconds and I ended up with 25 images of the whole thing. This was my favorite. Taken on the Coast of Washington (Ocean Shores) a couple weeks ago. The sun was behind some clouds at the time.
Canon 7D, 500 f4 with 1.4 extender @700 mm, iso 400, f5.6, 1/800, on tripod, manual exposure.
All comments welcome.
You can see the whole series in a 5 minute dramatic photo slideshow I created set to music. Many people don't have the attention span to watch the whole think but if you do you will be rewarded with a dramatic twist in the story for the second half.

Very nice work getting this. Very sharp, it seems it could be a bit brighter.
You got a very nice photo.

Way to go Doug, glad all of the mouse is sharp also. The image does seem just a bit dark.

Thanks for the responses Dan and Jack.
I hadn't thought about it being dark before but I think you're right. Here it is with 1/2 stop more of exposure. I like it better.
Thanks

Repost is better and the moment is great. Find the owl too tight in the frame, and are not very fond of the big dark spot of the hollow tree log. You might consider more room to the left and crop of the bottom at least 1/8 of the height.

Thanks for the cropping ideas. I have this set up in a 4x5 format for printing a 16" x 20" print right now. I set the Owl's eye in the upper left power point. I'll have to try some other options.
