    Default Hooptie Deux day 2

My second day out with James was better weather wise and turned into a really killer day. I got some amazing shots unfortunately I am still dealing with focus issues with my lens/2x combo . It's killing me This behavior I have never witnessed before and asumed it is a courting/mating ritual between the two reddish egrets. pretty cool and i am glad i at least got the moment. Sharpness not all there but this is one of the better shots taken with the 2x on it. If you havn't been out on the Hooptie Deux I encourage you to go. It is way toooo fun.Looking forward to another trip.

Excellent interaction and comp. The light, the pose and the two sharp birds make this a winner!

LOL I wish I had one . Someday. My camera was set for a microadjustment with the 2x on but then the camera had a replacement of auto focus drive.I forgot to put it back to 0 with the 2x on as well. Now i need a new microadjustment as the original is way off.

haha, just save some money and buy the new light 500, it is THE lens for Florida :) I am hoping to have the new 600 by the time I come there this year!

2X TC is just not great for action, you will miss a bunch :)

Even with your problems this is pretty sharp. Looks like he is showing the other a flight move. Great action.

Yes Arash, I find it hard to track moving subjects. I need to start saving money.

Lovely behaviour shot Cheryl! I agree that the 300mm 2.8 with the x2 converter is way too slow for action/behaviour.

I think you did a great job getting both birds in focus, esp in light of your focus issues. Glad the RE in the foreground is the one with the breeding colors b/c it makes it more powerful. Well done.

Wowee, GF, awesome action shot! You did wonderfully with the depth of field and focus here. Excellent job. Can't wait to see more. Wish I could have made it back up for that second outing. I will just have to live vicariously through your pics.

I think the focus on the birds is good, I don't see anything wrong.
I would run one more NR on the BG, that is it.
    Nice photo.

I think the interaction and the poses you captured are terrific. The egret appears to be bowing in front of the other bird. The light was in the right direction, as it shows the underwing details very well.

Super cool!!! The bird on the left looks like it's pretending to be an aeroplane and zooming around the other bird

I thought you only needed a 300mm in Florida

Chris that's exactly what it was like. Pretty cool. Hey I think a 300 AND a 500 would be ideal

Hi Cheryl, you have cetainly captured a great display between the two birds, and both in your DOF range and both tack sharp. Ive always liked the colours of these egrets. Looks like you had fun.

Great action captured. Looks like the front bird is flying although he is still grounded with two feet in the sand!

Nothing new to add. I would just save how impressed I am with both birds in focus.

Love the interaction here. I often have issues composing for two birds at once and you did a wonderful job in this image, both are tack sharp!

This is a really strong image. I didn't think it was possible to get such high quality with a 2x teleconverter.
