Default A glimpse into the past

Kgalagadi Transfrontier park, South Africa. The photo shows the museum at the Auchterlonie waterhole in this magnificent park. The house (museum) is unfenced and typical of the period. One can just imagine that this is what it must have been like for those early farmers with lions roaming free.

Certainly different Stephen, compared to the more usual images posted of these animals.

    Stephen,

What a remarkable sighting, and a rainbow in the desert. Just goes to show those warning signs at the museum have a real use.
    Wonderfully evocative

Great scene and sighting, i find the image just a tad flat, i hope you dont mind i took the liberty of doing a RP, i added a little linear contrast and then about 2% blacks in selective colour, what do you think?

It is hard to put 3 different elements in one frame and make a successful image. Steve, you did it very well.

Stephen - How fortuitous to have all 3 come together so well. Congrats on a great scene, well captured.

Stephen , a unique image form a normally barren and arid section of KTP. Awesome and I look forward to seeing more of your awesome images from the recent adventure

I like this a lot. Like Sid said, three elements are a real challenge and usually too much; but this works for me.

This works well for all the reasons mentioned, Stephen. Well composed and captured. Brendon's repost adds a hint more pop.
I couldn't believe how lush and green the place is...it was a tad greener when you were there as the southern part hasn't gotten as much rain since you left.

I gather it was your first visit to the KTP?? And that the "magic" will certainly lure you back there...
