    Default Brown Pelican Takeoff

They always look so awkward I never know if I love or hate their takeoff shots. Tell me what you think.

D300 taken with a 200-400 @ 200, 1/4000th @ f4.8, ISO 400. It was a cloudy day so I added a touch of blue to the white balance. I did the square crop to emphasize the odd shape his body is in.

Great pose and love the webbed feet. Gotta love the splash behind him as well. Nice and sharp. I am not loving the composition and would take some off the top and add a bitmore room to the rhs.

I know exactly how you feel about pelican takeoff shots! The techs looks perfect, with a nice exposure and good sharpness. I'm going to agree with Gail about the crop.
