This guy flew in so close that he wouldn't fit the frame. On the basis of "better crop than clip", I took a little off the right (his left) wing. Alafia Bank with James. C&C appreciated.

Super frame Bill; great color, super freeze and good crop IMO.
Never seen one carrying a branch like that before!
The more I see these high ISO shots with noise issues the more I wish my canon wasnt so sensitive to it.

    Bill,

perfect techs and excellent post processing. Regarding composition, with one full wing and other half wing I kind of felt image was not balanced. I would go for a tighter crop and balance the image some thing similar to this.
Let me knwo what you think?

Thanks Sid. I did consider a crop something like that, and it does give more attention to the branch and the head. But for me, at least, the OP version felt a little more dynamic (I guess that's another word for unbalanced), with some room for him to fly into, and the eye near the ROT point. Curious what others think.

It is more common that if you clip it, you crop both wings and go for the close up or head shot.
In this regard the version of Sid is more appealing to the eye as your eyes are trained more to thisk kind of presentation.
Personally I like the second (Sid) version, Bill.
Very nice picture, By the way.

The repost works alot better IMO, the composition is alot more balanced. I like the pelican carrying a branch and also nice BG.

Thanks everyone. I guess the votes for balance, as opposed to imbalance, win the day. I appreciate the helpful comments.

Wonderful shot. Excellent detail, love the branch, great background, and me personally like the OP. I cant explain why, but it just feels better to me.Well done.
