    Default Brown-hooded Parrot

Brown-hooded Parrots have so much personality! They always put a smile on my face when I get an opportunity to photograph them! This was taken on a perch adjacent to some bananas that we set out. You can tell that the frame was captured early in the day because the leaves only last a few minutes.

Love the setup and the light quality. The leaves add a lot and that cheeky pose is wonderful.

    Doug:

He does look like a happy guy. The leaves do really help to tie the image together and adds interest to the perch, which otherwise might be a bit heavy looking.

Like the pose, colors and feet!

    Cheers

He is smiling for you. I like the leaves (they look like bean pods) exposure and sharpness.

Hi Doug, your 70-300 certainly produces the sharpness, and the overall IQ in this is exquisite. I like many colours on the parrot, and what a great BG.

Love the sharp bird and the leaves, Doug! They really make a plan comp into something special, IMO. So, what happens to the leaves? Are they eaten?

This is a winner Doug, the leaves really add to the image and the colors are great, in fact I can't tell flash was used which means flash was used properly ;)

They get torn off by the activity of the bigger birds that come in (Toucans, Aracaris, and Oropendolas)

Thanks Kaustubh. This frame would not have been a keeper if not for the leaves IMO.

I lke the shot very much - love the colours, detail and the composition, in particular the tail, I like the fact it isn't obscured.

Looks good, Doug. I agree about the leaves (they are a type of fern by the way). The perch is a bit big but we did have to choose something that would not break off when the toucans land.

    Cheers,
    Greg
