I don't know how these Owls got to Washington, but this one looks very young.
By far, the darkest, most barred Snowy i saw this weekend and I don't know if I have ever
seen a Snowy photo of one marked like this.

One of my favorite Snowies in Ocean Shores. I only got a couple of frames of this one; it was the most skittish of the group. Very nice frame Dan!

Very beautiful owl and super bkgd. Good exp and sharpness. Might lighten the yellow in the eyes slightly. Perch is nice although to be perfect wish the large oof part was not there (you can't have it all )

this gorgeous Dan, the best of your owls so far, love the eye contact nice perch and the open eyes. it is a handsome specie. I'd just do a bit of NR in the eye where there is a tad noise. soft light and a sweet BG too

    Execllent image
    This one's a female
Like Doug, I have many images of this one as well. She tended to be there early in the mornings but then retire to the north during mid-day.
    Good job

Hi Dan, love the light in this, and you certainly captured great eye contact showing off those yellow eyes. Great BG, and I like what you did with the placement of the snowy in the frame.

Dan, excellent portrait. BG is something we all hope for all the time. very nice bird indeed. the one that was in Dallas last week had similar plumage...I couldn't make it but I've seen lots of pictures of it.

Dark or light, I love these guy's. Those yellow eys and direct contact are a super bonus. I can't wait to image one in the true wilds. So far the one down at Nubble has eluded me.

    Thanks for the nice comments.
Photographing these Owls was almost cheating!
Other than the walk out and the windy, stormy weather, when you found them, they were on perches
you couldn't set up any better!
You could circle and shoot 360 degrees because they didn't move and just turned their heads and looked at you.
it was about as much fun as photography gets.
They are the real stars, the most beautiful birds in North America, to me.

By the way, I do nothing to the eyes.
Some are darker than others, but the color is real.
The noise Arash mentioned is somehow from the compression, the Original looks fine.
The eyes vary a lot, I photographed Seven different Owls in the 2 days I was there.
The Eyes look as different in color as the Owls do.
Getting the Owls with eyes wide open was the trick, I have fantastic photos of dream perches and Backgrounds
but the Owls never opened their eyes more than just a slit.
    They were incredibly mellow!

Beautiful shot Dan. This could not get any better. Excellent pose, perfect background, and composed very well. The perch is wonderful too.
    Well done.
