Default Bathing beauty - Roseate Spoonbill on Tampa Bay

This handsome fellow was bathing up a storm for me. I was out with Capt. James on Tampa Bay, and as usual, we had a great time.

Post: 20% crop for comp, selective sharpening, toned down a hot white spot or two

I was using the TC-17, which hasn't been my favorite in the past, generally not as sharp as the TC-14. But, I had good light, so was able to go to f/8, plus I had micro adjusted the body for this combination, and was quite pleased with the sharpness it yielded.

I liked the pink reflections above the bird from other spoonies near by.

As always, advice and comments appreciated.

    Cheers

Very nice comp, pose and eye contact. Love the flying droplets.
Minor point, but as nice as the pink reflections are, I find the bolder ones at the top a tad distracting.

Love the splish splash! The pink reflections add to the scene for me. Sharp, almost cut myself looking at it. Might have to go to the Doctors, doc James that is, for some medicine, spoonie style! Super image all the way around Randy.

Great pose, eye contact and colours. The water droplets and the whole splash around the bird is a great plus. The bird well positioned in the frame, Randy.

This is great, Randy. I don't think I've seen an image of a spoonbill like this before. Beautiful action pose, and composition.

Excellent shot, I like the action and the exposure, very sharp and the all important eye is particularly clear, in short wouldn't change a thing!

    Hi Randy,
This is really nice. I too, like the pink on the water. The face is nice and clear and not covered by any water droplets which is nice. I like the nice splash as well. No nits from me,
    Gail

Really like this one Randy. Pano crop, great eye contact, excellent sharpness, and the pink reflections in the BG combine to make one fine image.

    Thanks everyone.

I have images of 3 or 4 different spoonies bathing from my outing with Capt. James, but liked this one the best because of the clear view of head/eye.

    Your comments are appreciated.

    Cheers

Hi Randy, good low perspective, and a good angle from the spoonie too. Excellent detail and colours captured on the head and bill, and just love the bathing behaviour with the flying droplets. Of course, the hint of pink on the BG does add a nice touch. An opportunity well used.

It's a beauty, Randy. I think what I like most about is the pink in the background. Gives it just that little something extra.
