Default Juvenile White-tailed Kite with prey

Here is a juvenile white-tailed kite with prey (gopher). The prey was natural (no baiting etc.)

Excellent image - great eye contact, bird placement and sharpness. Prey with that hanging tail makes this a winner.
I'm on my work monitor but the darker areas in the bg appear a bit blotchy with some banding around them.

I love the mouse or vole. One of your best for me, the Kite just jumps out of the dark BG, like you had a spotlight
on him. Great light, eye contact, and a beautiful bird.

Thanks Sidhart, what you refer to is posterization it is a combination of two things. Cheap TN LCD with poor gamut and also JPEG compression that compresses the tones. On my SIPS screen the compressed JPEG (posted above) does show a bit of posterization but there isn't much I can do about this unless I can post a 16Bit TIFF or low compression file (would be around 700KB).

Edit: I used the blur tool on the final image so smoothen those areas maybe this is a bit better

Well caught and great timing, I love the fine detail you have captured. Just a minor point I would consider toning down the bird's feet just a little, they appear to be quite bright - which of course I am sure they were.

    Hi Arash,
Very cool capture! Nice and sharp and I like the tail floating behind the prey. I am not crazy about the wing position- do you have one with wings up?

Looks fantastic on my better monitors and the posterization, as you mentioned, is hardly noticeable even on the OP.
I thought it must be a combination of my tired eyes and a sub-optimal monitor, but I figured I'd mention it as I had not seen this on any of your other fine images on the same monitor.
Looks phenomenal on a good monitor!

Pretty cool. I thinlk i like the blurred bg but both are cool. Agree with Jonathan on the feet. just a little bright ...

Great catch, for both the photographer and the kite. Another winner. Repost does help the bg on my screen, and although I didn't notice the feet, I think Jonathan has a point.
