    Default Keel-billed Toucan

Here's a Toucan from my recently-completed workshop with Greg Basco. Toucans are one of those species that you get a little excited about every time you see one. You can't help but take a photo! The bird was attracted using bananas. I'm really impressed with the 70-300 L!

Doug, I felt bad that this lens was the only one you were strong enough to handhold, but it sure paid off The image looks great -- love the perch, the pose, and the BG.

    Cheers,
    Greg

The focal point of the comp. is the beak as it should be since this guy has some amazing beak. Great picture, Doug.

Thanks Greg. At least I've got a Canon-branded (and color matching) tripod collar for my 70-300 for those times when I can't quite raise the camera/lens up to my eye without assistance!

Ha, that's true, Doug. But my 70-300 Lenscoat helps obscure the fact that I'm a cheapskate!

    Cheers,
    Greg

All the great colors in this image makes me think of fruit loops! The exposure on the toucan is perfect. Well done,

Hi Doug, I like the inquisitive leaning pose, and good DOF for F/5.6. Well exposed on the darker plumage, and this guy must have every colour in the palette. Lovely perch and BG too.

Very healthy looking toucan and great light. BG good too, perch has character but I find it a bit thick for the bird's grip.

Fantastic pose, perch, bg and colors. Perfectly executed. The 70-300 looks like a nice option.

Terrific colors on this one. Very sharp for handheld. Definitely a winner. Not sure I'd try to change much. The top edge of the beak seems a little bright, but that's really nitpicking.
