    Default Lilac breasted Roller

During my trip to Botswana last August, I didnt get many bird opportunities, so Im fairly happy how this has turned out. This was taken early morning, and I dont remember it being overcast, so the colour of the sky in this, is as shot. Ive removed a few untidy twigs on the perch, LRC. I also dont normally leave as much space as I have on the left, but the roller is sitting on the left thirds of the image.

Terrific light, pose and comp, Stu.
The colors on the bird look almost fluorescent in that amazing light. The bg also has a nice pinkish tinge.
I'd probably evict the twig with the leaves right below the tail.
    IQ is phenomenal!

This is really nice Stu! Nice composition as well. Nice light that really makes the LBR's feathers an unusual color.

Stuart, beautiful colors, well captured. The light in Africa is amazing, brings out the beauties.
Agree with Sid, may be the twig on the RLC can be removed.

I have seen , and admired many images of this species. I hope to get a few myself , if I ever get to Africa. This is one of the BEST of this species I can remember. If I were lucky enough to have this in my files , I would leave it just as you have it here. It all works together to form an OUTSTANDING image.

Beautiful image Stuart! The bird looks great, and the sharply angled perch is fantastic. Well done on all counts!

Ditto the other comments - that's an incredible variety of colors in one bird, and well captured. I think the only twig I'd remove is the one resting right under the tail. On my monitor the image looks just a little bit too bright, but it's so slight I don't know if I would even bother changing it for that reason.

Thank you all so much for the kind words and feedback. Much appreciated.

Pete Seidel: I actually darkened the image before saving, as my original seemed a touch too bright.
