Part of a series at Murrays Beach I noticed that this Scaly-breasted Lorikeet after emerging from the nest hole paused then flew down to a near by Fig and proceeded to feast on the fruit. The fig is apparently the Port Jackson Fig or Rusty Fig ( Ficus rubiginosa ) initially I thought it may have been the Small-leaved Fig, (Ficus obliqua). Both species are Australian native flora and the fruit is used by Australian Aborigines as bush tucker and fibre from the tree used in baskets.

Rod, another beauty from you. The bird in its environment looks good. As ever, the extra information you provide is nice.

Hi Rod, informative reading in your introduction. This fellow has striking colours, and love the hint of fig in the beak. Im fine with the busy leafy surroundings, but do wish the vertical leaf across the chest was not there. Since you have cut some leaves from the right in your comp, I would maybe come in a little more, so as not to place the parrot too central in the frame.

Beautiful looking bird. Real nice colors, I like the habitat, but do agree with Stuart on the leaf. Still a wonderful shot.
    Well done.
