    Default Inquisitive Buffalo

I find it challenging to take interesting photos of buffaloes. The light has to be great, and the pose as well. Hopefully this one succeeded?

Taken in the northern Kruger National Park last year in the very last sunlight of the day. Notice the autumn colouration of the mopani trees in the BG.

    Techs:
    Nikon D3s with Nikkor 500mm f4 VR-II
    f5.6 @ 1/800 SS @ ISO-6400

    Morkel,
I could not disagree with that statement

You have a fabulous pose here and a good silly expression but I find the buttocks of the other Bufallo a litlle bit of a nuisance

But, I rather like the butt. Needs some text like - "Yes, may I help you?"

This image looks brilliant for 6400. Exceptional job Morkel.

Bit of a 'cheeky' pose here Morkel, can only echo Sids comment.

Thanks for your comments, folks. I knew the "butt" would be a contentious element, but I liked the "peeping around my buddy" look here, even though it's a rear-end . There was no way to get another view here as they were in the road in front of us and the rest of the herd was around us. I eventually had to drive forward and coax them out of the way just to make the gate time at the camp .

Handsome fellow and I like the expression on the face. Did you try a tighter comp for this? Seems like it might still give the "peeping around the corner" look that you wanted while minimizing the impact of the featureless rear end.

Wish I could but I'm without any editing capabilities for awhile. Basically just thinking about taking some off the left (as viewed) to around (maybe just inside?) the raised hip bone. Would result in a pretty squarish crop but I know you're an outside the box thinker and don't limit yourself to those kind of things

I really do like this portrait. Love the texture and curves of the horns as well as the look from the buff.
