    Default Bulbul ala Klimt

Hi all. I captured this red-whiskered bulbul at the LA Arboretum a couple of weekends ago. Thanks to Mark Fuge for suggesting that I use it for a painting. I did several versions of this in DAP (Dynamic Auto Painter) and liked this Klimt treatment the best. Started with this image - Red-whiskered Bulbul - that I posted in ETL. Used Topaz Simplify (BuzSim preset) to get a basic painterly look, then took the image to DAP and auditioned some famous painters... Some selective masking was used to bring back detail in the eye and head. The Klimt preset requires a mask, so I painted over the bird to protect it from the treatment. A really fun program with lots of variation possible. My computer is a Mac, but I use Parallels to run Windows 7 for those apps and plugs that are only made for PC, e.g., DAP and Fractalius.

Kerry, I like it a lot. Klimt is one of my favorites and it works nicely with this image.

Kerry, You did a great job with the Klimt treatment, it's not an easy one to get right and you handled it masterfully. Nice clear eye and the over the shouldered pose works well to show it's tail.

Very nice, Kerry. I like the pose and a perfect Klimt effect. Nicely done.
