    Default Eye of the Storm

Taken at a wildebeest crossing of the Mara River in October last year. As the wildbeest were hurtling down the river bank, one found a ledge just off the two descent paths and stopped for a moment to look around. Thick clouds of dust (hence the softness) so lots of contrast on this one, some selective darkening and a little whitening of the eye. I tried a brighter and less contrasty version at first but I currently like this one better. Any more processing and I'd be in OOTB, but I think this version fits better in here.

Paul, I really like the composition. The eye of the wildebeest draws all the attention.

Very arty Paul, I quite like this. Did you use some vignetting as the central lighting is very effective?

The darkening was quite selective and not applied via a single tool, but essentially, yes. I processed it like a B&W shot.

Paul, I like this very much. You did well in difficult conditions to capture a quiet moment in the melee.

Paul, I like this for all the reasons mentioned. Something different, well thought out and processed.
How might some selective sharpening on the focal Wildebeest look?
