    Default These Moody Trees

I liked the original photo because it had a very strong shadow and light aspect to it (which I was very pleased to have captured more or less as I thought it should look), but it lacked something in emotion. Seemed a little flat. I used the OnOne suite to add an earth texture, which brought in some of the browns around the edges and gave it a little bit of a painted look, and I also used one of the movie settings (I think it was Tijuana something) which I dialed down to about 16% opacity which had the effect of adding a little more warmth and a tiny bit of sharpness to it overall. I used PS to darken the blown out sky to a pleasant peachy/tan color so it didn't overwhelm the yellows. Other than that in LR, I just gave it a little extra saturation, raised the blacks a tiny bit and that was that. I think it looks really nice on a dark background... not so nice with white. Thanks for your thoughts in advance!

Matt, I like the warmth and glow you've achieved. I think I would crop a little from the top and crop the right to eliminate the patch of light and the clump of small tree trunks.

Hi Matt, I like the mood you created here and On One is one of my favoriites!. The only part I have an issue with is the bright area near the top on the right edge of the frame-it draws my eye. I would crop it out or fill it in. The texture adds depth and the earth tones are rich and appealing.

Very nice composition, Matt. It does have a wonderful mood and warmth feel to it. Agree with the suggestions above. TFS.

I think you're right about that bright spot. Thanks very much!
