Default Air Mail Delivery from Costa Rica

My apologies for my prolonged absence from BPN, but I've been in Costa Rica for the past several weeks co-leading my Costa Rica workshop with good friend Greg Basco. The workshop was great fun! This year I thought I'd try to do some BIF photography at a couple of our lodges. Flight photography down there is very challenging due to the lack of light, clean backgrounds, and cooperative subjects. Many of the birds you see fly a very short distance so there's not a lot of time to lock focus. This is a Scarlet Macaw that I photographed against a rather unusual BG (green BGs are much more common). I did a bit of clean-up work on the BG in post.

Welcome back, Doug. Beautiful image, I like the composition, the eye contact, and the bg works great.

Awesome job, Doug. It couldn't be easy locking focus with a not-too-distant bg and the short flight distance.
The bird is gorgeous and check out those strong feet.
The flight angle and eye contact are great.
Looks like you cloned a bit of the tail into the bg near the tip.

Doug, loved this one...colors, IQ, subject placement, wings, parralel-to-camera....you nailed this one.

Nice pickup Sidharth. I processed this on my laptop in Costa Rica, but didn't give it a close inspection before posting it after I got home.

    Doug:

    Welcome back.

Excellent exposure with good details in the reds, good full up wing position, good framing for that long tail.

    Looking forward to more!

    Cheers

Hi Doug, welcome back. These guys do have striking colours, and you have exposed the reds very well. Good flight posture with the trailing tail, and nicely separated from the BG.
