Perhaps on the edge of an OOTB treatment...

Well, I think your "cranking the color" worked very well! Colours look great to me. Lovely colour of the water, along with great detail & good exposure on the teal make this a very nice picture. But I think it would be better with more canvas at the bottom - the bird feels cramped particularly as the reflection is so close to the edge, and the bird seems to be moving out of the photo. And more canvas on the right, in the direction the bird is looking, would also help.

Hi Michael, I agree - the colors look great while remaining "in the box". Lovely bird, water, and reflections. If you are so inclined, you could de-saturate the blue cast of the shadows on top of the duck and paint some of the warm color back into that area. I also agree on the crop, I would suggest moving the bird up and to the left in the frame.

    Gordon, Kerry,

Thanks much for your comments. Unfortunately, the original framing of the shot has the teal off to the right (not sure what I was thinking at the time of capture). What do you think of a square crop? I'm particularly fond of the grasses in the bg. A couple of attempts at extending the canvas didn't please.

Kerry, I also fixed the shadow... thanks for pointing that out. Color matching with Lab curves.

    Michael,
The square crop looks much better to me. There is also enough room to the right. colors are great.
