    Default One More Chipping Sparrow

    Attached Images Attached Images

This is at a setup. Nikon D700, 300mm f2.8, 1.4tc, tripod. 1/500, f7.1, iso640. Set sunny wb in camera. +.60 exp, +28 vibrance in acr. Very small levels, s/h, usm in cs3. This is a larger than normal crop for me leaving about 40% of the original. These little birds are the most numerous and most frequent visitors to my feeders so here is one more perched on a madonna lily seed pod.

Very good job, jack. Beautiful perch, very nice bg, everything is working fine. However, the madonna lily seed pods are taking my eyes away.

As a piece of artful bird photography I believe this to be very good indeed...I keep coming back to look at it. This is especially mystifying to me b/c I hate the idea of set-ups. I'd go so far as to say that to my eye there is a somewhat otherworldly quality here. Generally speaking, I don't appreciate the aesthetics of traditional bird photography, but I certainly see the art and heart in this piece. I mean this as a sincere compliment.

The composition is exceptional here, with the similar colours in bird and perch adding so much for me...

Beautiful portrait, pleasing background. Image quality is very good despite the large crop.

Jack this is a really sweet shot. The colors are so pleasing the perch is very interesting and I like the pose. My only minor suggestion would be for more room top and bottom. Maybe not the top but a little on the bottom.

Killer techniques and result. BKGR, light, and image design are superb. HA is dead solid perfect. A very small crop from the left to bring both stalks in form the exact same position in the llc might make it even better. See the contest sticky at the top of Avian!
