Cobb's wren was named after Arthur Cobb, who on July 28, 1908 shot one on Carcass Island, the Falklands. The bird was sent to the London Natural History Museum, where it was identified as a new species.

This wren, which is regarded as vulnerable to extinction, is endemic to the Falkland Islands. Today, it is restricted to the outer islands that have remained free of introduced predators. This image also was captured on Carcass Island.

Great story Norm. I didn't realise that Carcass was the "type location" for the species. It has been a dream of mine for a while to see this species and finally it happened that day! Maybe it was even this bird!
