Default No 3 second rule for Bohemian Waxwings!

Quite the messy eaters they are, with many berries falling to the ground as they gorge gluttonously within fruit bearing shrubs. Many opportunists among the flock would simply feed from the ground instead of of hanging on to branches and reaching, twisting, stretching for fruits. Not sure if the various out of focus berries will be to eberyone's liking, but I think they help tell the story of the feeding behaviour :-)

Canon 7D + 100-400L @400mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering f/6.3, ISO 800 (settings histogram checked, with snow slightly "blinking"), natrural light, handheld, removed a few berries via clone tool, added contrast, added a subtle shadow beneath the in-focus berry to "ground" it (burn tool).

You know that I love the stories that pictures tell. If you didn't have that one berry in focus, this might not be as powerful. You have a lovely subject with a great angle and great composition. I love this!!

I'm with Marina, this is a lovely series that you have going. Nice too that you have some detail in the snow.

That bird looks great, good exposure and sharp. Just enough detail in the snow, good job.

I am on the fence re. the OOF berries. I think everything else about this image is excellent. The bird's colors are marvelous, bright & yet subtle. A beautiful capture. TFS

Hi Dan, I really like these type of images where a colourful subject stands out so well against a high key BG. Good placement and HA too. With regards to the berries, if this were mine, I would remove them.

Very nice hi key image, Daniel. I'm ok with the berries, since one is in focus for reference, and I like the added shadow of the berry, but looking at the bird's shadow I might move the berry shadow move to the left. Nicely done.
