Dull weather lousy light so I thought I would play around at high ISO.

Jonathan you have done well to retail detail in this shot with the recent dull weather we have been getting.
I see your from the Wirral. On Saturday morning on a bitterly cold Cannock Chase their were 2 male photographers and a 1 female photographer all from the Wirral.
They were after the yellow hammers were you their??

Detail looks good at 1000 ISO although I wonder if focus is more on perch than bird. I really like the nice bg as well as the perch and the pose.

No worries they were friendly and cold like me.
However the yellow hammers did not want to play.

Nice alert pose and I also think the focus is on perch..and you did great at ISO - 1000 with 7D.

I see what you are alluding to regards focus but take a look at this (this is the raw file unadjusted).

Certainly from the screen capture focus is where it would be needed. Possibly the feathers do not show the sharpening as well as the perch. There is fine detail around the eye and perhaps a bit more selective sharpening could be used. Thanks for reposting. Always good to see what may or may not be.
