    The Awakening
A prose piece published in the summer 2011 solstice edition of

Cirque - A literary Journal for the North Pacific Rim

They have a pleasant online flip book available in full screen by clicking the image.

It was published as the prose only. I felt that without the image, the gist of the piece was more broadly open for reader interpretation.

John, I love everything about this one right down to the font you used. There is a great sense of movement conveyed in the image, it seems to cut right into the page. Great work and congratulations on the publication. Thank you for the link.

Very nicely crafted composition, John. Beautiful image and excellent choice of words, experiencing the wild through the bear's eyes and senses. Congrats on publication!

This is my first visit to this forum, and I agree with the commentators that this is a beautifully crafted composite prose piece. It's not surprising it was published. Congrats!

I agree completely that the words are much better with the image! The sense of wildness, and of hunger is focused by the picture. Good job.
