Default Busy at work # 2

I havent had internet connection for a couple of days, thus my absence. I posted a similar image of this behaviour a little while back, and most wanted to see more of the branch where the nest was built onto. These weavers are extremely fast when approaching their nests, so Im happy that I got him in the frame. Taken in the Pilanesberg National Park.

The nest is awesome and so is the bird.
At first I wasn't sure about the leaves across the bird, but the
more I look, the more it fits the image.
    Very cool.

Wonderful shot. Great background and I really like that we are able to see that beautiful red eye. I don't mind the grass at all.
    Well done.

Stuart, What an interesting photograph. The nest itself is interesting. I love the grass that is being carried in and the landing pose of the weaver. I might try a vertical comp as I don't think that the empty space on the sides adds much interest. I'm not the greatest at post processing techniques, but I think you could lighten the face which is in shadow just a bit which would draw more attention to the beautiful eye. I've been having good luck with Nik tonal contrast filters for this task. I hope that you have more images of this bird building his (or her?) nest and that you share them with us.

    Thanks, Dan, Robert and Grace.

Grace, I have already brought up the shadow area of the head and wing, and felt not to overdo it. My previous post of this male was a vertical, so in this, I was trying something different. Yes, I have processed a few others, and they do happen to be vertical too.

Neat, I love that tightly woven nest! Good timing, but I do wish this guy was lower and out of the shadow. I'd try an additional round of sharpening on the bird as the nest is sharper. Great stuff, love to see behaviour like this!!

Great shot Stuart! This series of yours is excellent !The classic shot - open wings ,HA ,light on head etc etc is not easy to capture. You have achieved all of this on the others ,albeit not on this one.Still 10/10 for timing and reaction.

Excellent action, light and pose, Stu. I like the bg too and love how the eye pops out. That nest looks so cozy. The lumber he's carrying is a nice touch.
I'm thinking a vertical would work well here\?
