The adults were around but their was Spanish moss between my camera and them. The nest, however, had a clear shot. I was quite happy to get this shot, never having seen any before.
I know these two chicks quite well.They sure are growing up fast. Nice clean shot however the left chick may have suffered from motion blur or perhaps not enough dof. I have shot these two at 8.0 at 1/160 and i think with a cable release it can be done.
Cute, and that is one appealing nest location! Very clear view! The chicks do look soft (and I don't mean cuddly-soft) and critical focus appears to be on the bark in front of them. You could bump up the ISO and close down the aperture...
The focus on the front of the tree could have been moved a bit back into the birds. I agree with more depth of field, as well. But ... have you checked to see if your camera front focusing - this is an easy check.
