Took this image of rough surf the other day. After converting to B&W, the spray coming off the waves reminded me a little bit of geysers or volcanos. Decided to take it further, trying for an inhospitable planetary landscape look. Did a pano crop, suggested by Roman, and stretched it down a little using the free transform tool. Added red photo filter, adjusted contrast & levels, added some Nik Color Effects glamor glow and Topaz fine detail to give it some graininess.

Looks like a scene from the upcoming movie "John Carter of Mars" a book by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Very nice work, thanks for the workflow info...

Hey, Brendan, this really does look like I would expect Mars to look. Very creatively done.

Brendan, This is very creative. The image really portrays the rough surf well. I like the color and comp. I do see a very small dust spot 1/3 of the way down towards the center I would evict before print. Nice work as always!

Hi Brendan, this is very dramatic. The surf, angle of light and the pano crop brings out lot of energy... excellent processing. Nicely done.

    Brendan,

Greetings. I like this one a lot. I think of something different than Mars, though... not sure what. Keeps me looking. Good show.

    Cheers,

I see what you were after. For some reason, the red doesn't work for me, but........
