Haven't posted in a bit...my recent wedding (woohoo!!) and subsequent move into a new house kinda got in the way!!

Between feeding frenzies a Snow Bunting relaxes atop a fresh snow bank. It was very cold and quite windy that morning with lots of fresh powdery snow...a perfect formula for snowdrifts being formed in open areas such as these farmlands. I got a bit lucky when this individual paused momentarily on one of those drifts.

Canon 7D + 100-400L @400mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/2500s., f/7.1, ISO 400 (settings histogram checked), natural light, handheld, cropped for comp (about 80% FF).

Love the light, the setting, the comp and the bird.

Congrats on your wedding and this image Dan! I do love seeing your Snow Bunting photos. Seems you have no shortage of them.
Love how you captured him on a snow drift. Gorgeous light as well. Just a great image all around. Well done.

Hey Dan, congrats on your wedding, and the move to your new house. I remember a previous post with a similar setting - I liked that, and I like this one just as much. Excellent all round exposure, good DOF on the Bunting, sharp, and love the hint of colours on him. You have pretty much nailed the comp and placement too.

I guess we'll forgive you for not posting for awhile -- I can see how those events could slow you down. Congratulations. Love the Snow Bunting against the snow bank. Beautiful little bird, and beautifully exposed.

Congrats Dan. Great news on the wedding front.

Is good to see being married hasn't affected your capabilities with a camera. A fine image once again.

    Cheers

    Austin
